Relationship of Cx-reactive protein response to induction of liver and kidney catalases following hematin administration into rabbits.

چکیده
The relationship of rabbit Cx-reactive protein (CxRP) and the enzymatic activity of hepatic and kidney catalases in rabbits following i.v. hematin administration has been examined sequentially. The early increases in rab bit liver and kidney catalatic activities were accompanied by the corresponding decreases in ßCxRP and an early appearance of 7 CxRP after hematin administration. Immunoelectrophoretic analysis of serum samples revealed two types of CxRP: a preexisting, although variable in concentration, ßCxRP and a 7 CxRP which appeared within 3 hr and then disappeared after 24 hr following a single injection of hematin. Adjuvant-treated rabbits showed slight depression of liver catalase with an in crease in ßand 7 CxRP levels. When hematin was ad ministered to these animals, a rise in both liver and kidney catalases ensued with a concomitant decrease in serum ßand 7 CxRP's 3 hr after hematin. Actinomycin

متن کاملThe Relationship between the Acute Phase Response and Antibody Production in the Rabbit
It has been found that some rabbits respond to the administration of either human C-reactive protein or human gamma globulin with the production of an acute phase substance, Cx-reactive protein. A correlation was found to exist between the amount of Cx-protein produced and the subsequent production of significant titers of precipitating antibody to the two antigens employed.
متن کاملThe metabolic interrelationship and physicochemical analysis of C-reactive protein and hepatic catalase.
Although no enzymatic function has been attributed to CRP, a recent study by Hokama et a!. (10) demonstrated the occur rence of common antigenic components in purified prepara tions of CR2 and human liver and erythrocyte catalases. Since antigenic similarities exist between CRP and catalases, the logical contention would be to assess concurrently the relationship of CR2 and liver catalase in an...
متن کاملTHE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE ACUTE PHASE RESPONSE AND ANTIBODY PRODUCTION IN THE RABBIT II. THE STm-t~LATION OF CX-REACTIVE PROTEIN RESPONSE BY CERTAIN ADJUVANTS AND THE RELATION OF THIS RESPONSE TO THE ENHANCE- MENT OF ANTIBODY FORMATION
In the preceding paper it has been shown that a correlation exists between the production of Cx-reactive protein by rabbits in response to the administration of the two antigens, human C-reactive protein and human gamma globulin, and the subsequent production of precipitating antibody in high titer (1, 2). This finding suggested that it would be of interest to investigate the effects of an adju...
متن کاملBiochemical and Histopathological study of Mesobuthus eupeus scorpion venom in the experimental rabbits
In tropical and subtropical countries, envenomation by scorpions (so-called scorpionism) represents a serious public health problem. In the present study, the toxic effects of mice LD50 injections of Mesobuthus eupeus (Me) venom on the kidney and liver of anesthetized rabbits were investigated. Six rabbits were selected and ALT, AST, BUN and creatinine were measured at 0, 1 and 3 hours after...
